Help Us Build a Special Kind of Community
Tim (not his real name) a 28 year old who had a job and lived in his own apartment for three years in an apartment building for people with disabilities, until he was arrested for cutting the cord on the vacuum cleaner in his building for the second time.
Fortunately the judge recognized that he should not be incarcerated.
Unfortunately he lost his apartment.
Tim's parents were able to find him a place to live. Without them Tim would likely have been left homeless.
Nobody's parents live forever.
Did you know that about 30 or 40% of homeless people have intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities?
What if Tim's apartment manager understood his disability?
What if Tim had a community of people who understood his disability?
We imagine a community where we grow kindness through understanding one another, and appreciating neurological differences. We dream about a community where people with differences are understood and appreciated for who they are. For many with neuro diversities it is not enough to be kind, people need more information in order to understand them and appreciate them.
We are passionate about building an autism informed healthy aging community with affordable housing where people will build full lives of activity and meaning.
Join us in making this vision a reality. Support our effort and give today.
